The 1995-1996 NBA season saw the Chicago Bulls become the first team since the Boston Celtics of the 1960s to win 70 games in a season. Led by Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, the Bulls finished with a 72-10 record and won the NBA championship, defeating the Seattle SuperSonics in the finals.
In the Eastern Conference, the Bulls finished with the best record by far, followed by the Orlando Magic (60-22) and the New York Knicks (47-35). In the Western Conference, the SuperSonics had the best record at 64-18, followed by the Utah Jazz (55-27) and the Houston Rockets (48-34).
The playoff picture was dominated by the Bulls and SuperSonics, who both swept their way through the first three rounds to set up a finals showdown. In the end, the Bulls proved too strong for the SuperSonics, winning the series 4-2 to claim their fourth title in six years.
Other notable teams that season included the Los Angeles Lakers, who were led by Shaquille O'Neal and finished with a 53-29 record, and the San Antonio Spurs, who had a young Tim Duncan and finished with a 59-23 record.
